The NHS App project is a collaborative programme between One Care, BNSSG ICB and community partners that aims to increase both uptake and meaningful use of the NHS App across BNSSG. Now in Year 3, the project continues to build on the success of previous years by supporting GP practices and patients to make greater use of NHS App functionality, while ensuring that digital inclusion remains at the heart of delivery. The project focuses on increasing app uptake and regular usage, supporting digitally excluded communities, reducing reliance on SMS messaging, and helping practices prepare for and adopt new NHS App functionality.
The work involved includes providing direct support to GP practices through training workshops, website reviews, communications resources, data-informed action planning and promotion of priority NHS App features. The programme also works closely with voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCFSE) partners to deliver community-based engagement, digital confidence support and tailored assistance for patients who may face barriers to accessing digital services. Together, these activities help practices promote the NHS App consistently, improve patient access to services and support the wider shift towards more sustainable digital healthcare.
