What we do

Workforce

Overview

Workforce is a priority for our regional health and care system. Our GPCB workforce programme develops creative, innovative solutions to the workforce challenges practices face. The programme also supports new initiatives, which help ease the pressures on the general practice workforce.

The programme is overseen by a committee of general practice members.

Recruitment pool

The recruitment pool helps make staff recruitment easier for practices by enabling the sharing of potential applicants’ details. There are two type of applicants who can be added to the recruitment pool:

  • applicants who have been through a recruitment process at a practice but were not appointed (NB the applicant will need to give consent for their CVs to be shared)
  • job seekers who are looking for employment in BNSSG general practice and have not been through a recruitment process

CVs should be sent to recruitment.pool@onecare.org.uk to be added to the recruitment pool for practices to contact with suitable job opportunities.

Introductory video for new staff

The video helps new members of general practice staff understand how general practice works, and how it fits into the wider BNSSG healthcare system.

You can watch the video here.

Celebrating our clinical and non-clinical workforce

Our staff recognition scheme celebrates our clinical and non-clinical colleagues in practices who are really appreciated in their role.

Our long-standing service recognition award celebrates the dedication of colleagues in general practice by marking key milestone years with a digital badge of appreciation.

Entry level general practice non-clinical qualification

We have designed and created an accredited course, designed to encourage people to consider general practice as a career choice. Alternatively the course can be used to support the onboarding of new recruits.

Please email futureskills@onecare.org.uk to express your interest in enrolling

GPCB agency MoU

Practices can now benefit from reduced fixed hourly rates inclusive of VAT from agencies which have chosen to sign the GPCB agency MoU. In return for fixed rates, the GPCB supports the concept that these agencies will be contact first in the market. This is in an effort to save practices money, reduce the need for rate negotiation and control rate inflation.

Please contact gpcollaborativeboard@onecare.org.uk for more information.

Work experience

One Care is working with BNSSG ICB to explore how we support and enable new employment pathways in health and social care, with a particular focus for young people with care experience aged 16-25 years old.

If you are able to offer a work experience placement please email workexperience@onecare.or.uk.  You offer will then be signposted to the ICB care leaver project, and will be advertised through a variety of other routes to the general public.

Resources

Our library of resources is available to all practices with useful information on:

  • training suppliers
  • approved staff agencies
  • coaching and mentoring
